Camping doesn’t have to be 2 man tents, musty sleeping bags, chilly groundsheets and heating cans of beans over a single flame (although of course it still can be, if that’s your thing). These days tents are huge – with electric lighting, bedrooms with real beds, and kitchens with all the mod cons. There are site locations to suit everyone – from vast sites with all the amenities of a resort hotel to small, friendly family run sites. Most are in stunning locations in the countryside or by the beach and most have restaurants, are close to towns or have take away facilities. They are great places for meeting people, or keeping to yourselves, whatever you prefer. Most have excellent supervised childcare activities to keep toddlers and children amused, and most have plenty of childcare equipment too. Travel is flexible – pile it all into the car or fly, and it’s easy to plan a 2 or even 3 centre stay, and whenever you travel it’s a very affordable option. But the best part of course is that for kids (and let’s face it, for grown-ups too) camping is just a huge, exciting, sleeping under the stars adventure.
