Why go to the Dordogne?
The area remains largely unspoilt with its river valleys and lush green countryside contrasting with the hillside villages. There's great food and much to explore from caves, to chateaux and medieval castles.

Babygoes2 recommends properties which are suitable for babies or toddlers for a variety of reasons (go to first stop). None of these properties however is 100% child-safe. Stay: Domaine de la Dolce, Montcabrier (www.domainedeladolce.com)
Sleeps: Three cottages sleeping 4, 6, and 8. See owners’ website for full details.
Location: Domaine de la Dolce offers three tastefully furnished, well-equipped and super family-friendly cottages with games & toys room, playground and salt-filtered, fenced pool. The cottages are set in an idyllic, quiet and secluded location near the Lot Valley and its vineyards, and are also close to the many sights and attractions of the Lot and Dordogne regions. The charming medieval village of Montcabrier with its traditional wood-oven bakery and 14th century church is less than 3 km away by car and for walking enthusiasts it is a lovely 30-minute walk from the property via an old donkey trail. Within 15 minutes drive are Puy l'Eveque, Villefranche du Perigord, Cahors wine country, the magnificent Chateau de Bonaguil, tennis, canoeing, horseback riding, fishing, and endless country walks. There are several 18-hole golf courses in the area and other nearby activities and attractions include cycling, treetop zip lining, water skiing, ballooning, rock climbing, an aquarium, animal parks, water parks (Walibi near Agen), and of course the many prehistoric caves and medieval chateaux that the Perigord region is so famous for.
Accommodation: The cottages are set in seven acres of rolling fields and woodland. Children can roam freely and safely, while their parents relax by the pool, under a tree or on their terrace. Each cottage is single-level (safe for children) with beautiful tile floors, high-quality furnishings, UK satellite TV and DVD/CD players. All have large beds with comfortable sprung mattresses, suitable for people with back problems, big wardrobes and dressers and heating for out-of-season stays. The spacious, independent terraces are hedged at the sides but open onto the meadow, and look out over fields and woodland. The website www.domainedeladolce.com has floor plans, detailed descriptions and more photos.
