Why go to Languedoc/Roussillon?
Delightful rural landscape, with charming hill top towns as well as fantastic sandy beaches. |

Le Chemin, Hameau de Montengrand, South of France. www.montengrand.com info@montengrand.com |
| Location: |
|
Le Chemin is a terrace of beautifully restored and superbly equipped stone cottages, each with its own private garden or terrace, located in the tiny rural hamlet of Montengrand. Only five minutes from the picturesque, mediaeval market town of Mirepoix, with it’s bustling weekly markets and numerous child friendly pavement cafés and restaurants. Set in 30 acres of pasture, wildflower meadows and woodland the domain boasts an exquisite heated swimming pool with views to savour, space to roam, a large organic vegetable patch for guests to plunder, a boat to float on nearby Lac Montbel, as well as resident ponies, tame sheep and other animals to enjoy.
Whilst Montengrand is the perfect place to wind down and enjoy the slower pace of life in this gloriously unspoilt region, there are also a huge number of activities on offer locally. From walking, cycling and tennis, sailing, canoeing, tree top adventures and go-karting, horse riding and river and lake swimming, as well as Cathar strongholds, the extraordinary La Cité at Carcassonne (40 mins)and the mysteries of Rennes le Chateau to explore. Just 1hour south- east of Toulouse, Montengrand is perfectly located for exploring the riches of the Languedoc and the Midi-Pyrenees. 15 minutes from Lac Montbel and approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes from the nearest Mediterranean beaches at Narbonne. |

The cottages have been lovingly restored, using traditional materials, to provide comfortable and stylish holiday retreats. Every property layout is unique, but each offers an open plan living space, which opens onto a private, fenced and gated, south facing garden or terrace equipped with garden furniture, a gas barbeque and some much-needed shade. The custom built kitchen areas all feature gas hobs, electric ovens, microwaves, fridge freezers, dishwashers and washing machines. All of the cottages have a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, whilst additional beds for children are available in some of the properties via a large mezzanine space, bunk-beds or pull out beds. |
| Facilities: |
|
The mild climate makes this a perfect destination from May through to late October and attention to detail means that visitors will find pretty much everything that a parent travelling with children would like to find, including a fenced pool area with the added security of a rigid, key operated cover to close the surface when not in use. The heated pool also features a large summer kitchen with dishwasher and fridge/freezer and gas barbeque.
Parents needs feature high on the agenda with a roster of local English speaking baby sitters, Egyptian cotton bed linen, bath robes, bath towels, plus towels for poolside use, a pre-arrival grocery shopping service, daily bread and croissant delivery service, a mid-week cleaning service and some fantastic local restaurants and vineyards to enjoy! |
| For children: |
|
From toys, cots, highchairs, nightlights, stair-gates, potties, booster seats and hand blenders for the very young visitor to snooker, table-tennis, badminton, acres of trees to climb, plus a traditional 18 foot tipi for older children.
Quality bicycles to suit all ages can be hired locally, including baby seats, trailers and tag-along bikes for our younger guests. A cycle track runs right past the domain so it is possible to ride to Mirepoix “off road” |
