Why go to Mallorca?

Mallorca isn’t all kiss-me-quick hats and pubs and clubs or chips with everything. It’s only the corner directly around Palma which has been over developed.

Northern, West and Southern Mallorca has real unspoilt charm .

  • In the North, The Old Town of Pollensa is great - very ‘Spanish’ with tiny winding streets, a lively square and plenty of bars and some superb restaurants..
  • The area has a wide range of fantastic beaches - calm and gently shelving at Pollensa (plenty of loungers and parasols to hire), coves at Cala San Vicente(again, loungers/parasols etc available).
  • Perfectly positioned for exploring the majestic countryside inland (Mallorca’s mountain range, the Serra de Tramentura)along with the chic and unspoilt west coast towns of Soller, Valdemossa and Deia. All this and Palma - with its tapas bars, great shopping and authentic Mallorcan experience is only an hour’s drive away.
  • The very South of the island (about 50 mins drive from Palma) is a real find – very undeveloped with charming villages and some of the most beautiful beaches on the island. Es Trenc for example, around 10mins drive from the atmospheric artisan village of Santanyi is a beautiful beach reminiscent of Corsica – white sand, turquoise sea, backed only by dunes, not by bars or restaurants. There are small developments at either end of the beach – Colonia de St Jordi and Ses Covettes, but both are characterful villages with a very relaxed atmosphere.

TIP: The airport gates are a long, long walk from arrivals, so insist on your buggy being unloaded when you get off the plane, or take a sling/hippy chick to help with a long carry.

It is in a very quiet location, just 3 kms from the atmopsheric old town of Pollensa with its market, winding streets, lively square and very good restaurants, and with wonderful views of the surrounding mountains and countryside. It’s an easy 10 min drive to the beaches of Cala San Vicente or Pueto Pollensa.With its ideal location, fenced pool, and flexible, spacious accommodation, it’s an ideal villla for a stress-free family holiday.
Accommodation: It is decorated in a simple, but very comfortable rustic style. On the ground floor there is an entrance into a hallway which leads to an open-plan living/dining room with open fireplace and a door leading to the covered terrace. Location: Set on a quiet hillside overlooking the countryside with superb views to the Bay of Pollensa. Just 4kms from the lovely old Town of Pollensa where there are great restaurants, cafes, a Sunday market, galleries and a golf course. Puerto Pollensa is 4.5 kms away and has a lovely sandy beach and a wide range of water sports. The dramatic West coast is within easy reach.
Accommodation: very stylish, spacious and comfortable villa. 2 double rooms and one twin each with their own shower room on the ground floor and on the first floor a master double bedroom with open plan en suite bathroom. There are a further two loft areas both with two twin beds that share a shower room ( these are more suited for children). Air conditioning throughout (except for the two twin rooms in the loft). This traditional finca has been beautifully renovated. Large lounge with comfortable cream sofas and chairs, and French doors which open on to the covered dining porch. A well-equipped kitchen with stainless steel gas cooker and electric oven, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. A covered terrace runs along two sides of the villa. On one side is a seating area which boasts fantastic views to the Tramuntana mountains in the distance, while to the other side is a fully equipped summer kitchen with a large dining table, ideal for dining al fresco. There is an adjoining solarium furnished with sun loungers which is perfect for relaxing and soaking up the sun.
Facilities: A cook is available (25 euros per hour, plus shopping, payable locally) on request. There is a separate laundry room with a washing machine and dryer. satellite television. For children: The private, circular swimming pool (with built-in steps) measures approximately 7m in diameter and is set in the lawned gardens- ideal for playing in. The path leading from the house to the pool is fenced and gated, therefore offering security for young children. Cots are available on request (25 euros per week) as are high chairs (15 euros per week) and babysitting (12 euros per hour on request, payable locally).
Travel: Approx. 2hr 30min flight from UK to Palma then a 1 hour transfer (transfer prices are availability on request).
