Spas worldwide
If you normally spending many of your waking hours looking after your little one(s), then what better break than to have someone else care for them, while you indulge in the ultimate in rest and relaxation – pampering at a spa.

Spa treatments are fast becoming the most popular way to ensure you get the maximum relaxation from your holiday. There are spas worldwide offering every conceivable treatment and philosophy, with ayurvedic treatments the current vogue. Some are aimed purely at helping you to feel and look better, others aim for spiritual rejeuvenation as well. All will offer excellent massages, classes, a complete range of treatments and superior relaxation possibilities, often in exotic and beautiful surroundings.

Unlike most luxury hotels however, spas are still not especially welcoming to babies or young children. Many have a no under 12s rule(the most famous of all, Chiva Som has a no under 16 rules, for example), and others have facilities to keep the little ones amused while you benefit from the treatments on offer. Giving a mum a massage with a 2 year old chanting out! out! out! beside the door would defeat even the most zen of masseurs, we feel. Very unfair, since parents are often in need of a bit of relaxation more than most.

However, help is hand! We’ve rounded up some first class spas which not only allow children on the premises but are actively welcoming to them, providing a variety of activities or supervision options to keep them amused and happy while you chill out.

Most are spas within hotels (often recommended elsewhere in our guide) but we can vouch for the excellence of the treatments on offer and the general mood of complete relaxation.

So…log on, book in, bliss out!

Things to think about:

  • Treatments generally cost extra
  • Book treatments in advance if you can: there’s nothing worse than arriving to find that therapists are fully booked
  • Book childcare in advance to ensure that while you’re being pampered, your child can also being cared for

Don't forget to let us know how you got on, to recommend your top treatment or to tell us about a great spa you’ve found…
