Location: Fritton House Hotel is located on the Somerleyton Estate within the grounds of Fritton Lake. The estate is on the Norfolk/Suffolk border 15 minutes drive from Gorleston Beach and on the doorstep of the Norfolk Broads, specifically the River Waveney. Both Somerleyton and Gt Yarmouth train station are near by with regular services running to Norwich and from there to London Liverpool St Station. Lowestoft train station also has a direct route to London. The grounds of Somerleyton Estate itself cover 5000 acres comprising of a 2 ½ mile long lake and beautiful gardens accessible from the hotel.
Accommodation: The grade 2, 15th century building formerly known as Fritton Old Hall, was previously occupied by estate tenants and park managers. The house retains many if its original features; open beams and sash windows to name but two, all enhancing the intimate and relaxed atmosphere we wish to promote.

The décor of the nine bedrooms combines contemporary style with tradition. Each room is individually decorated with unique antique furniture and either goose down pillows and duvets or the more traditional eiderdown and blankets to accompany the high spec beds and mattresses. Flat screen TVs and DVD players are in all rooms as well as telephone and internet access (wireless is in the pipeline). The two attic suites have X-boxes with a variety of games and DVDs available at reception.

The double rooms have luxurious Villeroy & Boch bath’s where as the twin/double rooms are fitted with large en suite showers.

Some rooms have a lake view – more so in winter when the leaves have fallen from the tress!

All rooms overlook the surrounding grounds and park from one aspect or another.
Facilities: Located on the south side of the ground floor, the restaurant can seat approximately 60 people. One area can be reserved for up to 16 diners and the banquette seating and cosy lounge chairs in the bar area lend themselves perfectly to the relaxed ambience of the restaurant. A plasma screen is also fitted so major sports events can be watched from the bar.

The hotel and indeed the estate as a whole promotes local, seasonal and fresh produce. 2007 will see the birth of a kitchen garden here at Fritton where we will grow our own vegetables for both the hotel restaurant and our sister establishment The Duke’s Head.A 3 course meal from our a la carte menu will cost approximately £25 pp. An all day menu is also available with main courses costing approximately £8 - £10.

The north side of the house has a dining room suitable for approximately 16 guests, this room can also be uses to hold small meetings and conferences with the sitting room being the ideal break out room. The sitting room is also perfect for a quiet read or relax by an open fire.
For children: The hotel itself has a supply of cots & z beds, the restaurant serves children’s portions of all its main courses & has highchairs if necessary, babysitting is available through prior arrangement.

Fritton Lake Day Attraction - (open to the public during the summer months) has an adventure playground, bouncy pillow, lake for fishing & rowing, putting green, giant chess set, pony rides and a welly trail. It is an ideal way for children of all ages, indeed the entire family to spend the day. Parents can have a drink and a meal on the hotel’s terrace whilst letting their children play in the park.

On the Estate Somerleyton Hall has a variety of events lined up with specifically children & families in mind. There is a Kiddies Easter Egg Hunt in Somerleyton’s famous maze on Easter Sunday and a Big Bug Hunt on May 7th, to name but two. In the local area there is Gorleston beach, the Norfolk broads where day boats can be hired, Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park, Lowestoft. Plenty more lies slightly further a field for example; The Dinosaur Adventure Park, Lenwade, near Norwich and Banham Zoo, Banham, Norfolk.
Travel guide: Car: Fritton House is off the A143 a main road running between Gt Yarmouth and the market town Beccles. The A12 connects the area to the M25 (approximately 3 ½ hours from London).

Train: Somerleyton train station is a 5 minute car journey away and Gt Yarmouth is 15 minutes away by car. Both stations link through to Norwich where national trains can be caught. Lowestoft has a direct line to London Liverpool St with a journey being 2 ½ - 3 hours.

Plane: Norwich airport is an hour’s drive away (approx 30 miles)

Location: The George in Rye sits on Rye's historic High Street. This small , pretty town, full of antique shops on the East Sussex border, sits between Hastings and Folkestone in the heart of 1066 country. Camber Sands beach is only 4 miles down the road: the only sand dune system in sussex and famous for its scenery. A perfect place for gentle walks, kite-flying and riding , not to mention swimming and picnics in warmer months . The beautiful and vast landscape of Romney Marsh offers a maze of cycling paths.

Down the road lies the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, a habitat for wetland wildlife that also has farms, woods and Camber Castle. The reserve hosts regular events including castle explorations.

Nearby Hastings boasts plenty of attractions, including the sandstone St Clements Cave's, which tells an interactive story about smuggling.

Several famous gardens are close by, including Great Dixter, home of the late Christopher Lloyd.
Accommodation: A coaching inn dating back to 1575 The George in Rye occupies a warren of interconnecting buildings dating from the Tudor to Regency periods. The hotel was bought by Alex and Katie Clarke in 2004. They have staged a complete renovation and resoration, reopening The George in Rye in 2006 with 24 rooms, a dining room, a terrace, The George Tap pub and a ballroom.

The rooms have been individually decorated by Katie, and preserve the hotel's historic fabric. Each combines antiques with contemporary English design.

The George puts emphasis on comfort, and all rooms have Vi-Spring beds, LeFroy Brookes bathrooms, Tivoli Clock Radios and Flatscreen LCD TVs.
Facilities: The George's dining room showcases the best of Sussex food and ingredients, including fish from Rye Bay, Romney Marsh lamb and local wines. The menus are seasonal and take influence from across the Mediterranean: lunch and dinner can be taken seven days a week (£25 for three courses).

Next door, the hotel's own historic pub, The George Tap, offers lighter meals and snacks with local ales.

Breakfast is treated as seriously as any other meal. Home-made jams, local bacon and sausages are the standard. Afternoon cream tea can be taken in the wood-panneled sitting room, open throughout the day for relaxing with the papers or over a book.

The Benson Room, a 16th century gallery room, can host atmospheric private dinners for 35, or parties for up to 65. For bigger bashes and events, the original Regency ballroom (with handpainted silk-wallpaper and antique chandeliers), is a stunning setting for up to 100 guests.
For children: The George in Rye provides travel cots with linen for the charge of £10 per night. The hotel also provide a “baby pack” with this, which includes: a baby mat, nappies, wipes and a rubber duck!

Travel guide: Car: from the M25, Rye is off the M20 towards folkestone (coming off at Junction 10 for the A2070). The hotel is in the centre of the town, which has several car parks.
Train: Rye station is a few minutes walk from the hotel. It is served by frequent trains from Ashford International (20 mins). From London the journey from Charing Cross to Ashford is under an hour.
Plane: Gatwick airport is half an hour's drive away.

For children: Cots, highchairs, toys, monitors are all provided, and little ones even get their own towelling robes to swan around in. Food is brilliant (of course) - from organic pureed food for weaners courtesy of Le Manoir’s own organic garden, to top-notch fishcakes for toddlers.
