Glynn Barton Cottages are eight stunning 18th Century Cottages set in 13 acres located in the heart of North Cornwall and nestled down a long private drive with breathtaking views across the Glynn Valley – an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Since making the move from London in 2000, Andy and Lucy Orr and their young family have transformed the cluster of cottages into a haven of safety and tranquility. Children are free to run around and parents are free to relax safe in the knowledge that the nearest public road is almost a mile away and in between is nothing but lovingly tended gardens (Andy is a landscape gardener), acres of woodland, wonderful facilities and a host of friendly farm animals.
Like the Pied Piper himself Andy leads his mini-guests on the morning rounds hand feeding the animals and collecting the eggs – the highlight of many a junior guest’s stay!
Baby Swimming Courses with the Swim Academy for Babies
From November 6th for 4 weeks we will be running baby swimming courses for guests with children under 24 months. The ½ hour daily classes will be run from Saturday - Wednesday every morning and are included in the weekly rental. It is a family affair so all children and parents can be in the pool along with their baby sibling.

At Glynn Barton the Orr’s have created an environment where self catering really can be a holiday. As well as providing a host of facilities to keep you busy here’s what they can do for you.
The Shop. No need to cook - just nip into the shop (open 24/7) and pick up a delicious bang in the oven meal for you and the kids, organic baby food and lots of other local goodies.
The Pamper. Desperate for some time alone to relax - soothing massages can be booked in the Orr’s annex.
The Night Out. Need some quality time together without the kids - babysitting by registered a child minder can be arranged as well as somewhere wonderful to have supper.
The Lie In. How do you give your other half a lie in when the kids are in the room next door? Easy - head off to one of the many play areas and get together with all the other early risers leaving the cottage peaceful and quiet.
The Day Out. Don't have a day out have a day in. If you can't face packing up the car and going out for the day - you don't have to. With so much on offer there is plenty to keep everyone happy and busy.
The Maid Service Finally take the pressure off the house work with a mid week maid service.
All the cottages are unique and of a high standard excellently restored from the original stone and slate with beautiful exposed beams. Whatever time of year they are always warm and welcoming with central heating and cast iron stoves.
The cottages all boast light, spacious, contemporary country-style interiors with stylish comfy sofas, smooth wooden and slate floors, tongue and groove bathrooms and shaker style kitchens full of everything you would expect to find in your own home. They are all very well equipped with cots, highchairs, built in stair gates, bed guards, monitors, food blenders and child friendly crockery and cutlery.

The Rosevine, Portscatho Cornwall |
| Location: |
|
The Rosevine (the new addition to the Family Holiday House family), is a cosy and intimate place to stay in Cornwall, with beautiful sea views overlooking Gerrans Bay nr Portscatho, and about 4 miles from St Mawes. This part Georgian house is set in 2 acres of wooded gardens for the kids to play in and is just a short stroll from a safe sandy beach. The Roseland is totally unspoiled, and there’s lots to explore nearby. We are just four miles from St Mawes, close to the coastal footpath and a stone’s throw from some of the best sailing waters. |
| Accommodation: |
|
The house has been completely renovated, and is now relaxed and family friendly, with 12 suites/mini apartments which sleep from 2 adults and one child through to 2 adults and 3 children.
Tim and Hazel Brocklebank wanted to create somewhere to stay which offers accommodation which is self contained, yet also has the additional facilities of a really good “hotel”. So, the ground floor of the house has a large drawing room with wood burning stove, a playroom with large screen tv, x box and toy cupboard full of toys and games for all ages, a Morning and Dining room, and an indoor pool. There is a small team of professional staff on hand who combine informality and great hosting, but you choose how much you look after yourself or be looked after.
Painted with traditional colours, the rooms are filled with a mix of old and restored French pieces, which nestle up against more modern finds. Most suites have sea views and large French doors, which open out onto a private terrace or balcony. Children have cosy separate sleeping areas, with either twin beds or New England bunks from Aspace.
All suites have a sitting/dining area with discreet mini kitchen facilities, which include kettle, toaster, fridge, dishwasher, and combi oven/microwave, for rustling up simple meals. However, if cooking is definitely not on the cards for you, then house chefs prepare delicious rustic style food, served in the sunny morning room and adjoining dining room on most days from mid morning through until supper, including a children’s high tea. You can combine self catering with the food service available, and choose to eat downstairs as little or as often as you like. There is also a “deli” service where you can order prepared dishes, and other items such as milk, bread, pots of home made jam, breakfast cereals, locally cured meats, snack boxes and wine from the house selection. |
| Facilities: |
|
Downstairs is the Den which has a large screen tv, x-box, and a toy cupboard stocked with toys and games for all ages. The house also has wireless internet access, an indoor swimming pool with changing room and shower, and a handy guest laundry and boot room. |
| For children: |
|
The den and pool as above. Outside is a large lawn to relax on and a lower field perfect for children to run around on, with play area, trampoline, and little wooden house. The children will never be without something to delight and entertain them. Babysitting can be arranged. |

FamilyHoliday House, Trevone Bay (Nr Padstow), Cornwall
(www.familyholidayhouse.com)
|
| Location: |
|
The first family holiday house is set at Trevone Bay an idyllic Cornish village where time really does seem to stand still. The sandy beach which is only a stones throw from the front door is set in a cove, and is perfect for families. Lots of sand, great waves, dog free between Easter and October, and lifeguard patrolled. Rocky beach is a very short stroll away, and is the spot for rock pooling and a sunset bbqs. It has a semi natural swimming pool, which is re-filled with every tide. The house is situated on a private, quiet, no thru road, popular with generations of visiting families, literally 100 yards from the beach. Padstow, is only a five minute drive away. Take a boat trip from the harbour, or hire bikes and cycle the Camel Trail, a cycle path that runs alongside the estuary. Padstow has a number of great places to eat including Rick Steins Seafood Restaurant, café, and deli. Other great beaches nearby include Harlyn, Boobys Bay, and Constantine. Watergate Bay is just along the coast road and is a great surfing beach, 2 miles wide and all sand. Energetic mums and dads can try out “The Extreme Academy†a sand and watersport school, where you can have a go at a wide range of beach and water activities. Watergate Bay is home to Jamie Oliver's Fifteen restaurant. There is golf at the nearby Trevose Golf Club, and sailing at Rock and you can also book the kids into Harlyn surf school. If you are visiting outside the high season, you can have the beach to yourself, wander around the local farmers markets, shop at some gorgeous boutiques and galleries in Truro, Fowey and St Ives, plus get in at all the best restaurants! |

A relaxing and comfortable seaside home, with four bedrooms, (sleeping up to 8 plus cot), a great space for one family to spread themselves out or for two families to share – there are two en-suite bedrooms for mums and dads and two other bedrooms for the children, with a family bathroom. Two of the bedrooms have room for a cot. Beds are made up with crisp cotton sheets and feather down duvets, and each room has a hairdryer. The dining room also has French doors on to the garden for drinks and bbq's on the terrace in the summer and a gas burning stove for cosy autumn and winter suppers. The sitting room has squashy sofas on which to curl up with a good book, read the papers or watch a movie.
