Stay: The Rosevine, Portscatho Cornwall
Location: The Rosevine (the new addition to the Family Holiday House family), is a cosy and intimate place to stay in Cornwall, with beautiful sea views overlooking Gerrans Bay nr Portscatho, and about 4 miles from St Mawes. This part Georgian house is set in 2 acres of wooded gardens for the kids to play in and is just a short stroll from a safe sandy beach. The Roseland is totally unspoiled, and there’s lots to explore nearby. We are just four miles from St Mawes, close to the coastal footpath and a stone’s throw from some of the best sailing waters.
Accommodation: The house has been completely renovated, and is now relaxed and family friendly, with 12 suites/mini apartments which sleep from 2 adults and one child through to 2 adults and 3 children.

Tim and Hazel Brocklebank wanted to create somewhere to stay which offers accommodation which is self contained, yet also has the additional facilities of a really good “hotel”. Most suites have sea views and large French doors, which open out onto a private terrace or balcony. Children have cosy separate sleeping areas, with either twin beds or New England bunks from Aspace.

All suites have a sitting/dining area with discreet mini kitchen facilities, which include kettle, toaster, fridge, dishwasher, and combi oven/microwave, for rustling up simple meals. However, if cooking is definitely not on the cards for you, then house chefs prepare delicious rustic style food, served in the sunny morning room and adjoining dining room on most days from mid morning through until supper, including a children’s high tea. You can combine self catering with the food service available, and choose to eat downstairs as little or as often as you like. There is also a “deli” service where you can order prepared dishes, and other items such as milk, bread, pots of home made jam, breakfast cereals, locally cured meats, snack boxes and wine from the house selection.
Facilities: Downstairs is the Den which has a large screen tv, x-box, and a toy cupboard stocked with toys and games for all ages. The house also has wireless internet access, an indoor swimming pool with changing room and shower, and a handy guest laundry and boot room.

The Apple Store
Apple Store
Stay: The Apple Store, Charlestown Harbour, Cornwall
(www.antoniaspearls.co.uk)
or click here to check availability and pricing.
Location: The Apple Store is an exquisite wing of a large Georgian house overlooking the historic port of Charlestown. Built in the early eighteenth century, the port of Charlestown is largely unchanged and is now home to three tall ships - Phoenix, Kaskelot and Earl of Pembroke.
Charlestown is approximately 10 minutes from both the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. It is also ideally situated for visiting Fowey, the Maritime Museum in Falmouth, the Tate at St Ives, and Padstow. There are two pubs and a fabulous restaurant in the village.
Accommodation: The Apple Store comfortably sleeps 2 adults (and a baby) in its large bedroom. The solid oak super kingsize bed looks over the gardens out to sea. The sheets are from The White Company and are the most fabulous Egyptian cotton percale (the duvet, pillows and towels are all The White Company too!) The adjoining bathroom has a fabulously powerful shower, loo and basin. It has everything you might ever need.. iron, ironing board, sewing kit, alarm clock, hairdryer, and some Daphne du Marriers books......

The Kitchen has its original slate floor, a ceramic hob with an electric oven, a microwave, a fridge with a freezer compartment, a washing machine/tumble dryer, the kitchen table and chairs, and again everything you might need in the cupboards (hopefully). The sitting room has a TV with Digital TV, a DVD and a video player, a wonderfully comfy sofa, a big armchair and a writing desk. The table and chairs for alfresco eating are in the Orchard.
Facilities: The Owners provide fresh ground coffee, tea, sugar, milk, dark chocolate biscuits plus the usual bits under the kitchen sink, loo paper & Molton Brown liquid hand wash!
The Cheese Shop in Truro is superb.
The Deli in Fowey is full of yummy bits, and if Tony (the local fisherman) doesn't call, then the Fish Shop in Fowey is the best... & they have a good wine list too.
Revival is the village's new restaurant and does delicious food and perfect latte.
There is a lovely local golf course at the Carlyon Bay Hotel, with St Enedoc and Trevose within reach.
Porthpean is a great family beach with sand and rockpools, as is Caerhays (with a great beach shop). The local beach may be pebbly (because of the balast jettisoned by ships), but has a sandy base when the tide is out, and the rock pools are the best!
Charlestown Natural Health Clinic is wonderful, and beauty treatments can be booked at the local Clarins Salon. 24hr Tesco as you drive into Charlestown!
For children: The house is perfectly laid out for pre school children and most equipment is provided. High chair, cot, buggy, potty, safety equipment, babysitters , laundry fairies etc.
Travel time: 1hour 15 mins drive from Exeter, 20 mins drive from Newquay International airport and 6 minutes from St Austell Train Station (main Line from Paddington to Penzance).
Price guide: From £485 - £685 per week depending on season.
