- Great beaches, with generally calm, clear seas.
- Laid-back atmosphere, children welcome everywhere.
- Easy to explore, with even the smallest village having some cultural/historical must-see.
- Good weather from early-to-late season, usually with cooling breezes.
- Easy eating out, Greek food pretty toddler friendly.
- Reasonable shops and medical facilities in most major resorts/towns.
- Comparatively cheap.
- Plenty of culture, great range of destinations - from the very touristy to the very remote.
- Easy to do 2 centre to combine a bit of both.
Things to think about:
- Doesnt have the same level of sophistication as more northerly Med countries - plumbing can be poor, there are frequent power cuts.
- Laid back attitude can cause frustration - food can take hours to appear for example.
- Food is toddler-friendly - e.g. chips, salad, moussaka, but is a little unvaried. If youre going for 2 weeks, be prepared to do a bit of preparation yourself or take some jars.
- If the weather is bad you can always visit some of the ancient sites, but otherwise theres not a lot to do.
- Can get very hot in summer, and Ionian Islands especially Corfu are quite humid so there are lots of mossies. Be prepared and youll be fine!
