We have just returned from two weeks at the Abi D'Oru 20/7 to 3/8 and throughly enjoyed ourselves as did our 2 girls aged 3 and 5. The hotel itself is very nice and the grounds are very pretty. The beach was very busy but the benefit of this was that the pool area was reasonably quiet most of the time. We had a junior suite which was a good size and accommodated a king size bed and two singles very comfortably. The breakfast buffet was comprehensive as was the evening meal although it contained far too much fish and cheese for my wife. There were not usually good choices for the children but the staff were happy to rustle up a pasta dish without any trouble. English is not widely spoken so communication can be difficult at times, particularly in the restaurant. If you do not take the half board option then you should not eat dinner in the hotel as it will cost you Eur45 pp and Eur25 for the kids fixed, no matter how much you eat. The service in the restaurant in the evening was very poor for our first few days but this did improve. The mini-club is just a tiki- hut with some toys, crayons and books and English isn't always spoken . It was disappointing for the children that more was not done for them in the evening. Despite the few small criticisms we still enjoyed ourselves and would definitely recommend Sardinia as a destination.

Review of Abi D'Oru

We stayed at the Abi D'Oru in September and had a fabulous time. It's a very chic, individual and airy hotel with a lovely lounge with a terrace and beautiful sea views. The rooms are very spacious and attractive either balconies or leading onto gardens. Mini bar, phone, TV and all the usual mod cons. The location was a real plus for us and our 2.5 year old. There are lovely gardens all around with plenty of room to run about and let off steam – and there's an enclosed pond with ducks which made a very popular walk each morning and evening. The pool is huge and never feels crowded – and there's a tasteful café right beside the pool for drinks and snacks. Also right beside the pool is a little building housing a low-key mini club. With very friendly staff, it has a good range of toys, paints, games etc. Our little boy is quite shy, but he was very happy to spend a few hours pottering around inside knowing we were just a few seconds away by the pool. We had some time to ourselves to read, swim and relax with no worries about whether he was miserable – since we could see him from the pool! He enjoyed daily games of football with Jacomo from Italy and Irena from Holland and it was all very laid back and non institutionalised – he certainly didn't feel as if he was back at nursery. You can walk to the beach and drive to many more very easily. The food was absolutely excellent – we took the half board option, which is table service with great choice and a really high standard. The staff were all very helpful and friendly towards us and our son. Plenty of other childen around, and a good mix of nationalities. It was a very relaxing and stress free holiday in beautiful surroundings, only 20 mins drive from the airport.
