March
2005 - Great resort, lots of shade for kids, new swimming pool open May 2005
looks amazing(shade on other pool around 4pm or before 10am). Nursery for
14month old great. Dinner at 7.15pm slightly late but you get free kids dinner
at sundowner bar if on Half Board (only 4$ otherwise) we then left baby in room
OK whilst we had dinner. Floors slightly slippy if wet, get cleaner to not use
water on floor. Junior suites (have TV)nearest to Dinner place - Garden Villas
next to new pool maybe open in May'05. You must go to Manta Ray site snorkling
with the Divers (only 2 meters deep) they are massive! Diving is $42 plus $12
for boat or 6 days unlimited for $300- Banana Reef is amazing - loads of
turtles at Magiri Caves. Saw eagle rays, octopus, reef sharkes(you can see them
from sundowner bar) turtles, lobsters, clown fish etc on the house reef. Coral
not as good as Elidahoo or Guraravu but loads of fish.

Absolutely
fantastic! Having been to the Maldives before the children were
born, we were keen to see if we could repeat the experience with our 3 and 1
year old daughters. Bandos was the perfect choice - direct flights (with
Monarch airlines), short transfer time (~30 mins) and really well set up for
families. Our girls were ecstatic with the white sand and warm water -
especially with all the tropical fish that swam round their legs. Children's
club was really good with great carers, lots of activites and a fantastic
playground - and free! Maldivians just love children - ours had more
attention in two weeks than they knew what to do with! Disadvantages - if
you wanted to feed the children early (i.e. before 19.15 in the main
restaurant) the children's menu was quite limited - but such a small thing
compared to all the advantages. Everyone told us we were mad to go to the
Maldives with 2 small children - but Bandos made it so easy and we'll
definitely be going back!

We
took 2 children aged 4 and 1 to Bandos in December 2003, it was the best family
holiday ever. The Maldives is pitched as a couples destination by the travel
agents but Bandos is a perfect destination with small children. There are no
cars, gentle sloping beaches with calm sea, a great little pool (our 1 year old
learned to swim here!) and the highlight for us was the
childcare - much better than the private day nursery we tried in the UK! The
food is fabulous, something for everyone. We'll certainly be going back.

Absolutely
brilliant for scuba divers with small children! We (Mum, Dad, 23
month old toddler) went for a week in September 2003. Everything was
excellent - accommodation, food, staff, diving services, the lot. We thought
we'd been put in one of the posh rooms by mistake, but it turned out we were
in a standard one. The air conditioned nursery was well equipped with toys
and Bob the Builder videos to keep the wee ones amused and the staff were
lovely. Maldivians seem to genuinely love children and our daughter was
constantly being entertained and reminded how gorgeous she was by a never
ending stream of doe-eyed young men (the same service was not extended to
mummy, however). The scuba diving and snorkelling is some of the best in the
world - we saw sharks and manta rays every day. Disadvantages/problems - long
flights, some ants in the bedroom, herds of Italians hogging the sunloungers,
deciding which cocktail to have every night. Best tip - Most package deals are
geared towards adults and are designed to maximise time in the resort. This can
mean departures and plane changes at ungodly times of the night. We got a
direct overnight flight to the Maldives and came back during the day . Probably
more expensive but worth it to avoid dragging a toddler around Dubai airport at
3 o' clock in the morning.
