We have just come back from 3 nights at the Knight Residence in Edinburgh, and can highly recommend it. The concierge was very helpful, and the apartment of a very high standard. There were nice touches like a small toiletry bag for our 18 month old son in his cot (which he was very excited about) and the facility to have tescos deliver your shopping on the day of your arrival (to be unpacked by the concierge prior to your own arrival) was invaluable. After a long journey, it was great to simply open the cupboards and get out food that you had specifically chosen. The provision of those essentials like washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets is also a nice touch, as it is always a nuisance to pack small amounts of these for trips away. Food was easily dealt with by the fact that we had a huge array of take away menus to choose from - all of whom knew exactly where we were calling from. The only downside to this was that the doorbell was incredibly noisy, and woke our young son up on the second occasion. It might be an idea to get them to telephone a mobile on arrival to avoid this if you have children sleeping. The apartment is very central, and the car parking facility means that you can go out and about with a small child very easily - although beware the Edinbugh traffic system which is very confusing and difficult to navigate. Two things I would have taken had I realised would be plug covers (large number of plugs, all at inquisitive finger height) and door anti-slams. All the doors closed very easily and were an endless source of fascination to my son, and an equal source of danger to his fingers! We were only there a few nights, and knew Edinburgh reasonably well so did not need the local assistance provided by the concierges, but are already planning a longer visit in the future. It was a very relaxing holiday, and enjoyed by all three of us.
