We have recently returned from a 2 week stay in a 2 bed townhouse at the Pine Cliffs resort. We had a lovely time, the townhouse had most things that you need, although we had stairgates fitted as the marble stairs and flooring are not the best for a 1 year old! The pools were lovely, but very cold for little ones. The inside pool was a godsend and we spent a great deal of time in there. The beach was super, but quite a trek, great for slightly older children, but we found it difficult with our youngest. We found the food was fairly average, not quite 5 star in our opinion. A large amount of things are served with chips which was disappointing. The breakfasts are super, room service is useful, but limited choice. The tapas restaurant is fun and tasty! We did try the restaurants outside but not sure that they are always necessarily cheaper! It is a super resort. The gardens are beautifully kept with lovely streams running through full of frogs which kept our 4 year old very entertained! The staff are very friendly and courteous, and helpful. Tips I would give are: the babyfood in the supermarket nearby are not great! The fruit jars and cereals are good, but you may want to bring your own or be prepared to do some cooking! light pushchairs are a great idea, the grounds are lovely to walk through to get little ones to sleep. We met couples whose children were in childcare and they were very happy with it. Take jackets or cardigans etc as we found it a little chilly in the evenings because of the coastal breeze! It's great, try it!

First class hotel from start to finish. Stayed for 2 weeks with 1year old and 4 year old in interconnecting rooms at hotel. The service, food, accomodation, facilities were excellent. The Porta Pirata was outstanding- I happily left my one year old there knowing she was being superbly cared for.Could not recommend this hotel highly enough.

We took our 18 month old daughter to Pine Cliffs and discovered the perfect,
short-haul, destination for the ultimate relexing, family break. With a choice of two vast pools overlooking the Atlantic, to be glimpsed through the pines, across acres of springy lawn, Mums & Dads can unwind while their little one is entertained in the first-rate Porto Pirate children's club, which has everything from supervised swimming pool, to climbing equipment, trikes, toys and a shaded area padded with bright rugs for babies to loll on. There's a choice of poolside restaurants, one of which offers waiter service from counter to lounger. With the choice of luxurious self-catering, or hotel, accommodation, you can sample the decadent convenience of room service in both. We were regular users, and our dinner was delivered to us on a golf buggy by a waiter in black tie! Would definitely go back.

The Sheraton Algarve was a very child friendly hotel - kids pools, plenty of highchairs at every restaurant, a fantastic kids club with lovely carers, (who babysit as well), the choice between the beach and the pool, everything within walking distance, an adequate gym for those inclined, wonderful food and a good variety, perfect weather mid September and good accommodation.
We have a 3yr old and a 7 month old and this was a very relaxing and memorable holiday for all. We opted for the villas which are only a minute walk to all the facilities, this enabled us to have a kitchen to cook up the kids dinners if we wanted and also to have the kids in a seperate bedroom, which is important for our quality of sleep. We would recommend this very highly to people who are looking for a great holiday with a chance for every family member to get what they want. Two tips, take a light pram to get around and for a slight change, try the restaurants that are directly outside of front of the hotel they are good and cheap.

I would thoroughly recomend this hotel for couples with young children. We
stayed in one of the vacation club appartments for one week at the beginning
of September and found the combination of self catering within a five star
hotel worked extremely well. The appt was spacious, well furnished, had a
good view of the golf course and provided everything you would need for a
small child. The atmosphere around the complex was very relaxed and
peaceful. Our 21 month son loved the beach, the various swimming pools and
the pirate boats in the children's village. The babysitting facilities gave
us (the parents) the option to enjoy the hotel alone in the evenings, though
the Portugese are very child friendly and many parents brought their young
children to dinner.
