The all-suite Porto Sani Village in particular is simply the best family holiday complex I've ever been to. Its setting is perfect - a few moments'
walk from the attractive working marina, with its restaurants, bars and shops, and the resort's private beach on the Aegean sea. The suites are arranged around or near the village's four interconnecting heated swimming pools, beautifully designed and landscaped, and the Sea Breeze bar and Artemis and Byblos restaurants. We stayed in interconnecting suites, which gave us two bedrooms and a lounge, and 2 small kitchenettes.
The service is truly five-star, from the lavish buffet breakfasts, through the meticulous daily maid service, the poolside care and the day-long waiter service at the bar, to the wonderful dining available at the village's own restaurants and beyond at the marina. The staffing levels are remarkably high - you only need to turn round to find someone to help you. And the beautiful Spa offers a comprehensive range of health and beauty treatments in a gloriously serene and attractive setting.
Although you need a taxi to get there from the airport, once you've arrived it would be pointless to hire a car unless you want to explore the suoorunding area. Absolutely everything you need is on site - including a supermarket, a cinema and a children's playground - so you never have to worry about packing up kids, bags and car; you get up, you have breakfast, and straight away you get on with a day of fun and relaxation.
Our children absolutely adored it - our eldest has been abroad before and since, to luxury hotels and to villas, but for her the best holiday imaginable is 'going to Greece', which means going to the Sani. We haven't tried the other developments within the resort, but for a young family, I would say that the Porto Sani Village is the benchmark against which all other European resorts of this kind must be measured. And it's hard to imagine anyone beating it.
A wonderful experience.
