We stayed in the Skiathos Princess in June and loved it. It's small, friendly but stylish. Everything is so easy to get to - from our terrace we could see the beach/sea, the beach restaurant, the pool and the lounge area - so it doesn't feel like a big faceless hotel and our 8 year old had more independence than he's had anywhere, which was a real plus for him and the friends he made. There is a big grassy area outside the rooms which has a table tennis table football nets and small playground at one end - really ideal for chidlren to run around on and let off steam. If you have one of the ground floor family rooms, then these lead straight out onto this area which was perfect. The sandy beach is really lovely - unspoilt, backed by vegetation and with crystal clear blue water - ideal for snokelling. We loved the beach restaurant as it was attractive and served delicious fresh fish - and all the restaurants served a childrens menu. There was agood poolside food service which we used a lot. We tended to eat outside the hotel in the evening - there are some good traditional tavernas just minutes away (no need to drive) and Skiathos town (10 mins drive) has lots of restaurants and cafes/bars - many very chic. It's a very pretty town with good artisan shops and an enormous number of boat trips of different kinds either around the island or to neighboring Skopelos (home of Mama Mia). There are dolphin feeding grounds close by so the chance of having dolphins swimming right beside your boat are very high - very exciting! There was a creche and a kids club(we used the latter from time to time) which had a good schedule and the staff were lovely.There were regular film and disco nights for the children which they loved and gave grown ups time to relax and get ready for the evening.We loved th e island - it has some truly stunning beaches and very easy to get around. We'd definitely recommend it - it was easy to be in with children, but wasn't a dedicated 'family'resort so the ambiance was calm - there was a good mix fo guests in terms of age and nationality. We hope to return one day.
